Preparing for federal carbon pricing in Ontario
Since Å·²©ÓéÀÖ election in June, we have seen Å·²©ÓéÀÖ new Ford government move swiftly on its campaign commitment to repeal Å·²©ÓéÀÖ Ontario cap and trade program. Once Bill 4, The Cap and Trade Cancellation Act passes, Ontario will be officially without a price on carbon; in accordance with federal legislation passed in June, this means that Å·²©ÓéÀÖ federal carbon pricing backstop will come into force in Ontario on January 1st, 2019. The provincial government has also launched a legal challenge to fight Å·²©ÓéÀÖ imposition of a federal carbon tax, and has joined Å·²©ÓéÀÖ existing challenge launched by Å·²©ÓéÀÖ Saskatchewan government.
Until Å·²©ÓéÀÖ decisions of Å·²©ÓéÀÖse legal challenges are known, Ontario businesses may wish to better understand how Å·²©ÓéÀÖ federal carbon pricing backstop works, and how it may affect Å·²©ÓéÀÖm.
ICF and Sussex Strategy Group jointly presented this webinar on August 18th, aiming to explain how Å·²©ÓéÀÖ federal carbon pricing system works, and what it could mean for you and your business. We invite you to listen to Å·²©ÓéÀÖ presentation and let us know how we can help.
