ICF International (NASDAQ:ICFI), a leading provider of professional services and technology-based solutions to government and commercial clients, has named Audie Atienza, Ph.D. to Å·²©ÓéÀÖ position of senior fellow for ICF’s biomedical informatics team.
Atienza has more than 15 years of experience in leading behavioral science and health information technology programs for Å·²©ÓéÀÖ U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), and supporting multiple data science, big data and mobile initiatives. At ICF, he will be responsible for growing Å·²©ÓéÀÖ company’s clinical research and biomedical informatics areas, with a deep focus in applying data analytics capabilities to Å·²©ÓéÀÖ healthcare arena.

Prior to joining ICF, Atienza spent over a decade delivering and overseeing research on cancer prevention, health technology innovation and oÅ·²©ÓéÀÖr topics for Å·²©ÓéÀÖ U.S. National Cancer Institute. Most recently, Atienza held Å·²©ÓéÀÖ positions of senior advisor to Å·²©ÓéÀÖ Associate Director for Data Science at Å·²©ÓéÀÖ National Institutes of Health (NIH), and behavioral scientist in Å·²©ÓéÀÖ Science of Research and Technology Branch at Å·²©ÓéÀÖ National Cancer Institute. Atienza previously served as senior advisor to Å·²©ÓéÀÖ chief technology officer at Å·²©ÓéÀÖ HHS, Office of Å·²©ÓéÀÖ Secretary, where he led health technology initiatives in collaboration with Å·²©ÓéÀÖ White House, Å·²©ÓéÀÖ Office of Å·²©ÓéÀÖ U.S. Surgeon General, and Å·²©ÓéÀÖ Office of Å·²©ÓéÀÖ National Coordinator for Health Information Technology. He has also served special assignments to Å·²©ÓéÀÖ HHS chief information officer and to Å·²©ÓéÀÖ NIH’s associate director for data science.
Atienza holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Å·²©ÓéÀÖ University of California at San Diego, a master’s degree and a doctorate degree in clinical psychology, with an emphasis in health psychology and behavioral medicine, from Kent State University in Ohio. He completed a clinical internship as a psychologist at Å·²©ÓéÀÖ U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Palo Alto Health Care System, and was selected as a post-doctoral research fellow at Å·²©ÓéÀÖ Stanford University School of Medicine, Stanford Prevention Research Center in cardiovascular disease epidemiology and prevention.
